Server Certified RAM or not?

I need to add 16GB RAM to our Dell T630 server. Should I be going for Dell Certified RAM or would "approved" RAM be ok? Difference in price is about £50 per 8GB stick.

As long as it is the same spec it wouldn't matter and doesn't make a difference.

I generally buy RAM from Crucial when I want to expand the RAM in a server.

 

Buying it from Dell will mean that your warranty won't be affected and if it buggers the server, Dell will still service it but generally speaking, the risk of that happening is small.

Me too. You get guaranteed compatible RAM without the crazy Dell prices.

Not a Dell warranty. That finished now we have a break/fix 3rd party warranty.

Don't worry about the warranty, just keep your original RAM if you're not just adding to it and put it back in if there's any calls not relating to RAM issues

One of my resellers got me a good price on Crucial RAM so order has been placed.
