Windows 10 Switch User Freezing when SIMS is open

We went Windows 10 64 Bit this summer and since then we have been experiencing freezing during the login process. I have finally narrowed this down to it stalling on printer installation. I have tried installing printers via login script and GPP and the computer still freezes at the point of installing the printers. I've updated printer drivers, double check my point and print settings and they are all fine.

 

This only happens when switching user. Printers always install fine any other time.

 

I have also now narrowed this down to the fact if SIMS is open on the first user when the second user switches user the freeze will occur. If we close SIMS before the switch user there is never any issue and all works fine.

 

Just wondering if anyone is experiencing this issue and/or has a fix other that asking staff to close SIMS before locking their workstation or switching user because they will forget or not listen.

 

I've been tinkering with closing SIMS on lock workstation (Scheduled Task) which works but if the user does Switch User it doesn't and I cant find a task to perform on this trigger.

Seems to be something to do with having SIMS open and Smartboard plugged in whist switching user. Removing the smartboard drivers resolves the issue or not having SIMS open.

 

Some interference between SIMS, Smarboard and Printers is causing the logon stalling on switch user.

 

Just trying to find the correct smartboard drivers without this issue!

Maybe this doesnt help, but we do not allow switching users, they have to log off and log in as someone different.

That would definitely, but the staff wouldn't accept that as a solution as they 'need' to leave all their documents open....

 

Smartboard 12.10.* all fail

Smartboard 12.11.382 fails

Smartboard 12.5.* all fail - additionally one version of the 12.5 stops touch working in Windows 10

Smartboard 12.3.726 works fine so rolling back to this version is our solution.

 

It might be the smartboard drivers or the version of smartink bundled with it but looks like I have a solution.

The above also failed.

 

Disabling the 'Smart Helper' service resolves the issue.

 

Who'd have thought Smartboard would have been causing an issue!
