Moticam X

Our science department have some Moticam X cameras which they attach to their microscopes or telescope and then view on an old laptop they have. The Moticam works as a hotspot which the laptop connects to and then the software works via the Wi-Fi. They would like a newer laptop, and I'd like it to be on the domain ideally. Anyone got any of these, or have any ideas how I could use them with a domained laptop which has no access to the Wi-Fi settings when the students log in? They don't work via USB.

Under windows 8 and 10 I've not been able to restrict a users access to the wifi?

 

but to have both the hotspot and the domain wifi on at the same time you could purchase a usb wifi dongle too allow both connections at once.

Navigate to the cameras IP address in a browser and you’ll be able to configure the WiFi network it can connect to.

 

Think it only supports key based networks though.

 

Connect it to your schools WiFi and the camera can be viewed on any device on the same network.

I've tried this and all I can do is view the camera, capture, calibrate it, and draw lines and circles on it. Do I go in through a different port to get to an admin side of things?

Could you try port 8080

Hopefully you should get a configure option. This link might help as it shows a screen shot of the WiFi config page.

That's all for the X2. Mine is just the X. I am going in on port 8080, but there just isn't a "Configure" button.
