IT_Man_Dan Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Morning all, Has anyone who uses Avocor screens experienced lose of touch functionality? Its resolved by unplugging and re inserting the USB cable but is causing some frustration amongst our teachers. I haven't had time to have a proper look yet but was wondering if anyone has had and resolved similar issues? Thanks
reprised Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Not with these, but some of our Promethean boards would lose connection. We tried different pens, newer drivers, checked usb port power settings etc but didn't make a difference. A temporary fix was to unplug the usb and replug it and it would redetect it and work for a while until it happened again. We replaced the usb cables with the shortest and best quality available and this cured the problem every time. I'm not familiar with those screens but perhaps this could help. 1
MatthewL Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 How long is your USB cable in question? It could be your USB cable is too long and its struggling to get the data from A to B due to the length, think 5m is max total unless using some form of powered adaptor between. 1
SamanthaD Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Echo the cable arguement here. We've had SMARTboards go down while using Lindy USB > Cat 5 extenders (powered), replaced with a direct cable and they work fine. We're now trying the Lindy active USB ables https://www.lindy.co.uk/cables-adapters-c1/usb-c449/15m-usb-2-0-active-cable-type-a-to-b-p9291 and these seem to be working well so far on all interactive kit, be it a screen or SMARTboard. 1
