Move all computers from one domain to another?

I was wondering..... We have two sites next to each other on seperate networks domains.

 

Lets say some disaster happened and we needed to switch all computers to use next doors domain, is there a quick way to do this?

 

We can plug in to nextdoors switch to join the network so that would be easy and I would create new users in AD.

 

I wondered if there was a tool to register all the computers onto the other domain.

 

Any ideas?

Not sure if it still exists but when I abandoned the domain here and made a new one (too many weird issues from how other people had set it up) I turned all the PCs on then ran ADMT which I think you had to give old and new domain admin credentials and it went round and moved them over. It was in about 2007 though.

Im doubtful Ill get very far with this though and would have to do them all manually.

If the two domains have a physical connection you could set up a Trust between the two domains and then you can log on to either of them.

This sounds very goood. Just looked in to Domains and Trusts and there is no link at the moment. I'll give this a go and set it up.

Can you do anything similar with Azure AD? We have a small number of staff from our partner junior school working in our school and I'd like to give them access to some network resources using the laptops owned by the other school.

 

Both schools already use Azure AD.

A trust won't help if the source domain controllers are all gone! How about having the trust, then have one of their DCs on your site and vice-versa. Then zero action required in a site loss scenario.

If I were you and assuming there’s a direct connection between the 2 networks, I would move all computer onto one domain and have a domain control at each site, I would probably subnet each site to reduce the broadcast.

What type of connection do you have between the two networks?
