No mouse and keyboard when trying to install Windows 7

HP ProDesk 600 G2 Mini

When trying to install Windows 7 64-Bit from a disk, as soon as the installer boots into the select languages screen, the mouse and keyboard become unresponsive.

The Bios is a HP Bios, it is a relatively new and minimalist Bios layout and it is not obvious what can be changed with regards to USB port settings. For example there is no visible option to enable USB Legacy Boot.

 

This seems to be a well documented problem, and I have tried quite a few suggestions with no success. I have tried imaging the PC using a universal restore function to inject the drivers, but this did not work. We have also tried to download a Chipset driver for the motherboard, we have tried a USB to PS/2 adapter to try and connect the peripherals.

 

I guess I will have no problems installing a Windows 10 OS on this PC, however the PC's in school are all still Windows 7 and we aren't ready to migrate as yet.

 

Does anyone have any ideas about this issue?

I would look at create a fully unattended Windows 7 install disc. It should be a case of putting in the disc and leaving it alone.

Further to the original post, does anyone have any ideas about additional options for USB ports in the Bios? The Bios version is N22 Ver. 02.18

Don't know the exact model, but on the majority of our machines there are 2 USB2 ports on the back normally under the network cable which will function during the setup.

I had this on a new build system, and I had to go into the BIOS and set the USB settings to Basic function instead of Advanced, restarted and all was fine.

What should I be looking for in the BIOS to change the USB Settings to Basic function?

I don't know if you have done this or not but you could inject the USB3 drivers into your Windows 7 installation disc. We had to do something similar with a our HP models as Microsoft no longer supports usb3 with windows 7 with the newer processors.
