Hi guys,We have just started using SCCM and everything is running fine (so far) and we're really happy with how its working. However i am having issues when it comes to users, using the Software Centre to download apps which i have put on there from the Education Microsoft Store.

So using VLC player as an example, Software Center shows the app fine but when they click install, we get this error

Looking at the error code, i have found, what appears to be an issue with the device not being in AAD? - Link to what i found here. So to test this, if i go on the Microsoft Store (Set to Private store via GPO), it askes me to log in - This is fine. Once i log in, the device shows up in AAD and i my account shows up in Settings > Home & Work accounts:

and it would appear i can now click the VLC player icon and re-install. This works.

So my question is, can i automate this even after i have set the GPO as described in the link above? I guess i just need the devices to register within AAD?

I really don't want staff to have to sign in, manually. I have added the group policy in Computers > Administrative > Win Components > Device Registration - But this doesn't seem to do anything.

Our setup:

  • Windows 10 Education
  • On site Active Directory
  • We use AD Sync for our 365 for the users - I don't believe that Device Sync is set up. As odd as that sounds, i am unsure this is needed for this instance? Rather than setting up AAD to handle our AD (Which we don't want to do just yet)
  • SCCM setup is roughly 2 months old - so i am pretty sure its all up to date.

Sorry about the lengthy post, i have just tried to explain everything the best i can.

Thanks, Joe.

Sorry I can't help with this but I am interested in an an answer as I am currently trying to install apps from the education store but keep getting the "Something Unexpected Happened". My next phase was SCCM but I can't even get the basics working so, free bump!
