Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Anyone here use Lexia? We have it with QRT 2.03 update but receive the following error when trying to run a 'Detailed Student Report' for Quick Reading Test: Director Player Error Object expected Script error. Continue? If I click yes about 20 times the report displays as it should - if I click no the whole software closes. Any ideas anyone? Been on to support and they are stumped too.

Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Kind of: see attachment I tried that solution you gave me but it didn't work - have a look at the picture attached. I just counted and I have to press YES 47 times before the report appears.untitled.bmp
pgillman Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 getting same error on program startup - shows splash screen then the error and refuses to do anything but show the error or close the app. Lexia support (UK) have been reallu helpfull but are just as flumoxed as I am - we're a CC3 school, got it to work ok on a standard xp sp3 install but no luck on the network. Apparently they've got it working in Durham, hoping they can provide me with the package control ini file so I can compare their installed programs. Anyone else having this on CC3/CC4?

I'm from Durham and have a CC3 network. And i've never had a problem with Lexia. Drop me a PM with your e-mail and I'll happily share a package .ini file. Although I don't think this will show anything out of the ordinary. What error are you receiving exactly? Anything in the event viewer etc?
pgillman Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Hi, Thanks for the reply - thanks for the offer but we've already been supplied with a cc3 package by Durham. The error message is the same as previously stated on this thread - we start the program, get the Lexia splash sceen then the 'Director Error' - we're given options to exit or continue, continue just produces the same error. The problem is occuring on any cc3 pc we try it on (including package build machines) and on any login. I believe the problem is being caused by a system package, either one we already have installed or one that needs to be installed and isn't, I just need to narrow down what it is. The ini file I'm after is not the one with the package, it's the one in Q:\package control\ - the ini files in this location are named after each PC on the network and contain a record of all software assigned to the PC complete with the installation status (installed, installation_pending etc). If you could send me a copy of one of these ini files for a PC running Lexia I can compare it with an ini file for a standard build at our school and hopefully narrow down what the problem is Don't spend much time on forums - what's a PM???
Sylv3r Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I don't think it will help especially if you have tried to run as a clean machine but here you go. I don't have the Durham LA package but one I created myself. Have you tried a manual install? The other option could be do you use a proxy? After the splash screen I think it dials out to the lexia website. pgillman Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) Manual install produces same error - only way we've got it to work is on a vanilla XP install We've added proxy settings during installation and Lexia support confirm the settings have installed correctly but this isn't the problem (I wish it was as simple as that!!) Thanks for posting the ini file - as mentioned previously, the fact that it won't work on the package machine would indicate our problem has something to do with an installed System Package as this is pretty much all a package machine has installed - as most CC3 system packages are Microsoft updates its a fair bet most CC3 sites will have very similar lists of System Packages applied to their workstations so comparing ini files will help highlight any differences I notice from the list that Service Pack 3 hasn't installed ... Windows XP Service Pack 3 Update.ini=NOT_INSTALLED (OS VERSION) but it looks as though SP3 updates are still installing quite happily even without it... XP SP3 Security Update KB959807.ini=INSTALLED I've heard that SP3 has a rep for causing problems after installation (software suddenly not working or working incorrectly compared to SP2) - were you aware SP3 hadn't installed? This is a pretty major difference between our configs, I'd suspected SP3 may have been a problem, if Lexia's running on this PC this may well be the key Edited January 12, 2011 by pgillman
Sylv3r Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I slipstreamed the SP3 into our builds so when the PC's boot into Windows XP they are SP3 ready and just awaiting packages. Saves a little extra time when rebuilding the computers. Good luck trying to crack the Lexia problem. Lexia ran on our SP2 machines fine and continues to run on SP3 now.
