October Price Increases?

I've been informed today that Microsoft have imposed another license increase from October 1st, this will affects any new or renewed OVS agreements.

Can anyone confirm this?

The prices and SKU’s all changed on 01/10 for Server and Office 2019

As all new M$ sales/renewals will be based upon these new products moving forwards the 10% sounds about right.

Apparently this info may also be accurate, protentional reductions may be in pipeline due to ongoing discussions with DfE and Microsoft.

Will it be cheaper to purchase Microsoft 365 rather than OVS or similar?

Prices did increase by around 10% on October 1st (following a 20-25% rise in July).

 

If you take a 1 year agreement now and there is no reduction, or even an increase in price over that time, you could be worse off as a 3 year agreement would have locked your per licence price for year 2 and 3 renewals

 

Where prices will go in the future is really anyone's guess - there may or may not be a negotiated reduction, there could be outside factors (dollar rate/Brexit) etc. Choosing between a 1 and 3 year agreement is a business decision involving budget patterns as well as a purely financial one and I'm not sure resellers like us are in a position guarantee anything.

Last year we went down the 3 year route to protect against price rises, we were advised to do this by our renewals supplier.

Just got my renewal through and Microsoft Desktop is 32% higher than last year The rest are about 20% higher

Yeh that 10k a year quote above is exactly why I've slimmed my MS licencing right down to just Server OS / Desktop OS / Cals / Office. Nothing fancy so SQL or anything and locked it in for 3 years (Just starting on year 2 now).

 

£3k a year is bad enough!

Have you bought a SQL license then? Or do you not run Sims locally or sums at all?

Hi Mark. SIMS is hosted by the LEA. Don't run any other big databases in house that would need to pay for version so lucky escape there! Got a few bits and bobs running on their own express instances.
