button_ripple Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I'm a newbie to SIMS and FMS and haven't got any training for it. I have managed to work out how to install SIMS.net to a computer. But i can't get the FMS part of it to work. I don't need to change anything on the server, this is just a brand new workstation that needs it installled. Can anyone tell me how to install this onto the computer?
paul Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 You will probably need the FMS installation disk from the LA support desk.
Ueline Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Can you use the FMS setup from S:\Sims\Setups\FMSApplicationSetup.exe ??
teejay Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 If you're FMS has been upgraded to MSSQL, you can use the installer in S:\SIMS\SETUPS\FMS\FMSApplicationSetup, do not use FMSApplicationSetup which is in S:\SIMS\SETUPS as this doesn't work. If you haven't been upgraded to MSSQL you need the installation CD from Capita.
Pete10141748 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Cheers for the help guys. Between Button_Ripple and me we have managed to get FMS installed. Now we have the problem that we cannot get the database link to work - it keeps asking for a username and password for the server, which we do have, but doesn't work. Any ideas? does it need to be a SIMS/FMS username and password? Or would it be an admin-specific one that capita use? Cheers!
teejay Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 The FMS usernames and password are different to the SIMS usernames and passwords. There is a default username and password but I can't give this out on a forum, please ring Capita Support.
Ex-MGSTech Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) Assuming you have had the FMS 6 update done, try this:- Run workstation update from:- S:\SIMS\Setups\FMS\FMSApplicationSetup.exe (Where S:\ is your SIMS drive mapping) Run FMS SQL Modules Application Select “I cannot access an FMSConnect.ini file” Type server name as : yourservername\sims2005 (change "yourservername" to correct name for your location Some users will need to have their passwords reset following the upgrade.
