Microsoft Access 2007 Report Printing Question

Hello, was recommended this place by an existing poster..

 

Hopefully this is the right place to post this question.

 

I have an MS Access database that I would like to be able to print from two reports at once, but collate the printouts, if that makes sence.

 

I.E: Its a reports database for THE school, and so theres an MS Access report that prints out all the subject reports for a student (normally about 7 -10 pages per student, 1 subject per page)

 

But then theres the Headmaster MS Access report, that prints out 1 page per student.

 

Is there any way to link these MS Access reports, so it will print a students Subject reports, and then print the Headmaster report, and then go back to the next students subject reports .. etc etc ?

 

Ive had a look about the MS Access sections on the microsoft site, and google hasnt really thrown up much.. Cheers

The word you need is 'subreport'.

 

Check the help file. You can use your existing reports as subreports in a new main report. You will probably need to change the headers and footers in the sub reports and create something similar in your main report.

Ive managed to get the subreport looking decent, but when I go to print preview it warns that the margins are bigger than the page, and then it has 2 blank pages after every page.

 

Cant figure it out. Any suggestions?

Hopefully someone can help me with this. I want to get a list of subjects, and a grade, for each pupil, on a seperate page, but I cant seem to figure out how to get each PupilID onto a seperate page. The report layout is below.

not sure if this will work so before you continue you may want to close down the database and make a copy / backup of it and then try this.

 

Create a blank report

 

then open it up how you have there where it shows you the reports on the left, then try and drag and drop another report in there ( if it lets you ) if it does then drag the blank report into the main window and drag the other fields from one report into the blank report.

got another question regarding the printing of reports.

 

When this is finished, its going to be sitting in the wwwroot folder of the IIS server. The problem is though that the admin staff are going to need to be able to print off reports from within the MS Access database.

 

Im trying to think of the best way to do this without either giving them access to the wwwroot folder or without manually copying the .mdb file to somewhere they can access.

 

Is there any way to initiate print commands from maybe an .asp page?

 

Ive started to look at Auto-it as well as a possible method for them to print without having to open up MS Access themselves?
