Koldov Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Having spent the summer upgrading to Windows 10 and Office 2016, I've spent the last two weeks firefighting little issues like this... Obviously the admin/finance/reception staff (ladies of a certain age who are less than IT literate having a melt down) have been affected most, as the majority of their day is spent using the computers and office programs. I have calmly listened to each of their problems (as in I don't like the way it looks/it's changed/where is 'My Computer'/why hasn't it stored all my passwords/shortcuts), however there are a couple that aren't obvious and have taken a bit of Googling/ticking or unticking various boxes to resolve. Firstly we obviously have a lot of old documents (from Office 2010), doing very strange things when being edited and needing to have 'maintain compatibility' ticked when saved (admittedly there is a warning pop up box, but who reads those right?). Things such as completely losing all the text, putting one line of text on each page (and creating 30 odd pages), being unable to move a text box without it disappearing off the edge of the page etc. As I said, most of these have been rectified, but one that still hasn't is printing ranges from these old documents. It either ignores the print range or prints nothing. Say you wish to print page 2 out of a three page document, when putting 2 in the dialogue box and clicking print the job disappears into the ether... same with putting 2,3 for printing the last two pages. I don't have a great deal of time to look through all the possibilities of why these documents aren't printing, so I wondered if anyone else has encountered this particular issue and resolved it?
sparkeh Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Encountered it, not resolved. For us, the print range is not followed and the wrong pages print off. Frustrating.
Koldov Posted September 14, 2018 Author Posted September 14, 2018 The only clues I have are to do with 'sections' rather than explicit page numbers... These seem to relate to older versions, but it may well still be the issue: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/243630-ms-word-2010-not-printing-custom-page-range https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_word-mso_winother/i-cant-print-a-range-of-pages-with-word-2013-why/55a005c9-d3f8-44f8-a9de-730be3b802c7 I don't really know enough about Word (or Office programs in general) to really dig deep into the issues or have the time at the moment to try to explain the 'extra level of tom foolery' needed to resolve it! 1
hallb15 Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Check the formatted page number! See my post here for how I solved it. 1
