Managed Macs - Recomend a supplier

Does anyone have a recomendation for a managed Macs provider?

 

We have a suite of 21 macs. Want a managed service soloution, i have heard that JAMF is a good provider.

 

If someone could provide a recomendation that would be fantastic.

I tried KRCS, they left me at the last minute during the summer. So i wasn't impressed.

Hi We use GBM Digital, JAMF is good but certainly not cheap! they insist on sending an onsite engineer at £1k+ per day to set you up. We now use Zuludesk which doesn't have the setup fees and is around the same pa.

 

GBM, Academia and KRCS are all Apple education Specialists (others out there), and should be able to advise you the best choice for your situation.

 

We have 600+ devices managed by zuludesk (iPads and Macs) happy for you to pm if you want to know more about how we have got to where we are and how we use it

If you need another, I can highly recommend dataJAR who also offer a hosted Jamf service called dataJAR.mobi. One advantage to their managed service is that they supply a Linux VM that contains a cache of all of your large apps like Adobe Creative Cloud and sounds files for Logic Pro X/Garageband/Sibelius so each Mac doesn't have to download them via the Internet.

 

My school has been using them for the past 2-3 years and they have been faultless. They are always quick to answer e-mails/helpdesk tickets and been able to answer any question I have asked them.

 

Ben is the Mac expert there. He also helps run the macadmins.org Slack channel and London Apple Admins meetup (among many other things) and is a regular speaker at conferences like the Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC) and MacADUK.

Any Jamf Managed Service Provider would recommend a local based Jamf JDS for distribution of pkg’s to Macs and a caching server for iOS and MacOS content so this is nothing special.

 

DataJAR are very good at what they do but do not expect it to be cheap.

Scott Bordoni at GBM is superb to deal with. A really helpful guy and an absolute minefield of knowledge when it comes to anything Apple related. He's helped us out no end in the past and he's definitely someone worth at least having a conversation with if you need any advice at all relating to Apple kit or the best route to take with managed services.

+1 for Toucan, have used them for more than 10 years. Always good service, support are great. The setup of your solution can be flexible and how you would like it and if your not a mac person or sure what you want they will guide you and are not pushy.

Yes I've used Toucan before (in a past life) - again apple solution expert! go to someone who knows apps and knows education - I would stay away from the bigger companies that shift 1000's of boxes and stick to someone who will be responsive and is active in your area (that's why I don't use Toucan at the moment).
