Do you fancy sharing ideas and brainstorms anytime Janx1975? I've got RM support here which has eased things a bit. However there's still a hell of a lot not documented as well as the general IT mess to sort out.

Start at the router, find the login details, see what that's connected to, continue until you run out of network devices.

In the end you'll have a great set of documents.

Only problem is if it's actually been secured, or you can't hack it without wiping the config and you don't have a backup of that config, depending on the cost and criticality of the device you could always buy another and do a swap

Up against it at the moment, I come off long term sick then lead tech goes off...

We have RM here and VMWare which helped me find out the names of servers and then IP addresses etc. I then grabbed spiceworks and got that set up (for a quick helpdesk) so that it could go off and scan the network for me.

I then tried to compile all the login 'documentation' into a usable spreadsheet and then just progressed through and tried to organise them into admin network logins, hardware (switches), software, websites etc. Unfortunately the previous NM's registered for everything with their staff email accounts - I have tried to pull everything into an office mail account "itadmin" so that if anything happens to me, someone will have all the info in one location.

Still shocked to see main office staff using their staff accounts instead of using specific office role accounts "exams officer", "finance officer" etc but thats for me to tackle down the line...

We have RM Support and Entrust - everything setup prior to my appointment. I wanted to get rid but seems that time and effort (and contracts) are against me at the moment.

How are you doing?

Where possible we register everything to our ITSupport account so that our team can access it regardless of who the NM or Technician might be, but we also use our own accounts for the day to day communications as it is much easier and more personal.

At least your making progress with the documentation, and hopefully a RM Support Contract to get you the resources for some of the CC4 features you might not have used before.
