shotgunn182 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 One of our recently inherited schools has a GeneTouch Corp GT55MCQ-X Touch Panel in each classroom. Over the summer I upgraded all PCs to Windows 10. Now it turns out the interactivity isn't working correctly. The school uses ActivInspire, but when the pen (or anything) is chosen it stays on the select tool. Touch doesn't seem to be great at responding even in Windows either. I tested on Notebook and the same thing initially occurs - when trying to draw with the pen, the select tool stays. Strangely after a few random selections and taps the pen does work... I can't find drivers anywhere, Google doesn't even recognise that this particular model exists. There is a random IWB driver on the Gene Touch website but this doesn't work. There is a sticker on the front of these boards - VII Touch (http://www.vii-networks.com) but I'm almost certain these guys were the re seller and not the actual manufacturer. If anyone knows of correct touch drivers or has any more info about these boards I'd massively appreciate it!
christhetech Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Does the screen still have SparkII software installed on it, or has it been removed, with ActivInspire installed. If it has SparkII installed, you should be able to get the drivers directly from the Geneeworld hub.
shotgunn182 Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 As far as I can tell, these screens don't have the built in PC element, so there is no SparkII software, no.
christhetech Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 We've just had a batch of 4K G-Touches installed here, so I'll have a word with our reseller account manager for you and see if he can get the correct drivers for you. I've known him for years, and he's normally really helpful, so maybe he can assist as a bit of a favour to me, especially since I've just put around £15k worth of business his way.
shotgunn182 Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 That would be much appreciated if you could! I've actually just had a reply from GeneTouch stating the boards are end-of-life (obviously) and they are plug and play so don't require a driver. I'm waiting to see if they should be compatible with Windows 10 but I fear I know what the answer will be...
christhetech Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 I've had a reply from our account manager, who advises that the product code quoted is not a current model. From what I have told him so far, he thinks they may be X-Series screens, with a silver bezel and the word Trutouch on the top left hand side of the Bezel. If so, they are indeed EOL. He said that if I can get the exact model confirmed for him, he will have a chat with one of his technical contacts at Geneeworld and see if there is any sort of workaround.
shotgunn182 Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 Just to be sure - the board in question is a Gene Touch not a Genee Touch. I wonder if you refer to the later? There isn't a Trutouch detail anywhere on the bezel. The bezel is black and very chunky. It's definitely a model GT55MCQ-X. Cheers for trying!
sidnuts Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 @shotgunn182, we are also in the same position as you. Upgraded to Window 10 over the summer and now our Sahara GT55MSQ-X is not fully interacting. It detects touch, but to double click you have to keep tapping like daley thompson's decathlon on the Spectrum. Have you had any luck on a supported driver? If we manage to trace one down today I'll post back.
Clevertouch_Rob Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 @sidnuts have you logged it with our support team? Thanks
sidnuts Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 We haven't as couldn' find drivers on discontinued products. Will log a call now though. Thanks, Rob
shotgunn182 Posted September 24, 2018 Author Posted September 24, 2018 It turns out I'd missed a setting in ActivInspire to allow the software to be fully interactive. If anyone ever has the same issue, I did the following: 1 - Open ActivInspire 2 - File - Settings 3 - Authoring Profile, Dual Mode ActivBoards, under Touch input handling, change from Treat as Select Tool to Full Touch Support Thanks everyone for your input!
sidnuts Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Thanks for getting back, have been given a link to purchase a supported driver from a third party. Think we will try your solution first then if that fails purchase the driver. Thanks again
MicrodigitUK Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 (edited) We had exactly the same issue with a Clevertouch first generation 55 inch screen supplied by VII Networks. Before they Sourced them direct from China Factory (GeneTouch) and rebranded them. Worked fine on Windows 10 1511 but after that all touch functionality switched to right clicks around the 1607 upgrade. Windows drives just don’t like the old screen. Ours is almost exactly the same modal. Clevertouch support gave us several drivers to try, But none of them worked. In the end we gave up and bought a brand-new Clevertouch screen. Interested to hear if anyone does find a compatible driver as the old board is just sat gathering dust in our store cupboard. Edited September 26, 2018 by MicrodigitUK
