On our pro-curves we are having a slight issue with the config of our IT Services VLAN.

This VLAN already exists, but we are trying to reconfigure an existing switch to the IT VLAN.

So the core is configured with the IT VLAN with an IP Helper. All good. Works elsewhere. I have configured the edge switch which goes through another switch. All fibre ports are tagged with the IT VLAN.

For some reason I cannot get the VLAN to work at the edge.

Any idea's?

Many of the HP switches don't allow more than 8 or 16 vlans by default, but you can increase this limit usually. However if you are tagging ports in that vlan it doesn't sound like that is your problem.

Uplinks tagged, end ports untagged or tagged as appropriate?

Posting the relevant parts of the configs will give us a bit more to go on.

Just to clarify

Is there 3 switches in this scenario

Core —> switch 1 —> switch 2 (edge)

So the vlan is tagged on the port core to sw1 on both switches

Then tagged on the port where sw1 and sw2 uplinks. Then Untagged on the ports that you want the devices to get an ip.

As said before more info really is needed
