Got a 580 Smartboard that once you have orientated it, its okay round the edges of the board, but the closer you go to the middle the worse it gets (ie appears to be out of orientation) and yet away from the middle and back towards the edge and its fine.

I seem to recall hearing of this problem in the past but can't recall how it was fixed, can anyone else?

And yes before anyone asks I am running the latest 9.x version.

Thanks

Hi Paul,

We are a resellar of Smart. A couple of problems of which we encountered in the past was

If an airconditioning unit was blowing directly onto the board, that caused problems.

Is the board bowed at all or being installed incorrectly with screws at the bottom of the board again this could cause the problem. Check these out and if the problem isnt solved i will call Smart technical for you

Just check it isn't the computer - try sticking in a laptop with SMART software on it and see what happens.

All mine go out at edges - never seen one go out in the middle !

Will give that one a try, not in the school now until next week, so will let you know

Sounds like your board could be under tension from somewhere - screws too tight, wall not flat, etc. Or it could be dead - we had one that did that. If possible, can you move it somewhere else to test it, swap it with another board perhaps...

could also be the internal membrame being slightly stuck to the outer layer:

low tech solution a-hoy!

get some gaffa tape, stick it to the board, then lift & rip: sounds stupid, buts its worked for us in the past

Does it work for normal edge alignment problems or is it just a last gasp measure for an otherwise dead board :)

download version 9.7.103 of the smartboard software.

in diagnostics for the board,(botttom right square)( product support )

you need to goto View - smarboard 600 series

you should see a greyed out button with flash on it

press ctrl -shift- f

and select sc9-4.1.2.0.flash, open- and follow onscreen instructions.

this worked well for our smartboard 680, and 660 series.

you can also enable 80 point calibration

hope this helps

:)
