On premise servers / further strategies

Hi all

 

I’m planning a meeting with SMTs (never my favourite) to discuss future IT plans for the School.

 

Do we move to fully cloud infrastructure (we are on O365 on emails, and testing our water with SharePoint)

What are the implications of licensing costs when MS stops discount structure for education in 2020 (ie what’s the increase? Is this for licences such as server and sql OS...what about Office 20XX license costs? )

Things that will need to stay on premises (AD, SIMS etc)

 

What’s your future plans ? Would love to share some viewpoints ..

There's already cloud-based Active Directory, and last time I worked with it SIMS worked just fine (better, if anything) over a remote connection.
