A white board projector was working fine before Summer holidays but now it will not stitch on with the remote. There is a steady red light indicating that projector is in stand by. Changed the battery of the remote but no luck. There are many projector of same model in school so tried different remote but still no luck. Manually it comes on when the power button is pushed by a very long stick (it is in the hall). Very confused what has gone wrong.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

We test the remotes by looking at them through a phone camera, press buttons and you can see it flashing on the screen. Got about 40 green slims and some of them the reach on the remote is pathetic, even with different remotes, so I'd say its probably the projector. How old are they?

Interesting. I had a similar issue this afternoon with a Casio XJ-M. I've tried swapping the remote with another projector, and both remotes work in the other room, but neither work in this room. Did a reset in the menu, and also tried removing the power at the back. Neither worked for me. As above the buttons work on the projector itself.

Will have another play tomorrow. Or I'll just give them a stick to poke it with...

depending on how brave you are and if you have fixed it by now you could look at swapping the IR sensor from one projector to another and seeing if the problem jumps with the swap.

Is it a new installation of projector? Is there any windows in the hall ceiling?

At my last school we stuck a new projector up in the hall but it would not work with the remote as the light coming in from the window and directly in the censor, we closed the blind and it improved.

In the end we stuck a mirror on the projector at an angle over the censor and it worked 100% of the time.

The previous projector had a censor next to buttons and on the front which is why it didn't have any issues.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

The issue is fixed now. Disconnecting only the power supply from the projector did do nothing but when HDMI was also disconnected and both reconnected it started working!!

Strange. But as long as it works I am happy.
