alfatec Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 We have a BYOD wireless network. This is setup through Smoothwall by using a different VLAN and 192.168 IP range and transparent proxy so students can use their active directory username and password. We seem to have an issue where when they are browsing it asks for the Smoothwall certificate, which we have to install manually onto each device. Anyone know how to get round this?
jslate1980 Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Point them towards getmitm page on the smoothwall and get them to install it themselves. As it has instructions. Only instructions that are different from the page is Macs as you have to provide trust for the certificate.
mdrabble Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 That’s what we do, after they connect, we get meraki to redirect them to smoothwall mitm page.
sigma Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Not forgetting to point them to the appropriate "Privacy Notice" and getting consent before you ask them to install the certificate if you've not done so via another route already.
