sidney1 Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Hello, My request is very short, anyone has an install files for StoryPhones software ? Thanks
elsiegee40 Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Hmmm. Things do not seem right with this company. Calling Ghana or Nigeria???? http://www.thelearningnuggets.com/prices.4957688-194894.html
ADMaster Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I found this UK based link that says they are discontinued, clicking on the bread crumbs to storyphones returns no results. https://www.ypo.co.uk/product/detail/D80415
sidney1 Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 The company went bust, their gone for good but software actually didn't have licence attached to it from what I can remember. Our staff had a copy but it went missing or perhaps lost forever. So if someone is willing to make a copy, I would really appreciate it. Thanks
FN-GM Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 This is software that must be paid for and nobody on this site will be willing to supply a copy of it as that breaks their licensing agreement with the company. Contact the company direct if you have licenses and they will help you Its more like a driver than software. It is to power a physical device. 1
sidney1 Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 That software lets you select tracks to play on the headphones and other similar stuff 1
jmak Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 The original company that developed them was Ameeca and they ceased trading in 2013. There's a link on their historic website which is supposed to point you towards support, but points to a 404 page. Given that it's software developed by a company that hasn't been trading for over 5 years and it's no use other than to someone who owns a product which is no longer made or sold, is there a real issue with copyright?

atcoates Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Its more like a driver than software. It is to power a physical device. I have the software and it was distributed with the hardware as part of the package. The software is specific to storyphones and has no other purpose. Can I PM the OP the software? He would be legally entitled to use it as he has the hardware. I'll go by whatever a mod says to be safe. 1

atcoates Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 In this particular case, I think it can be left to individual discretion. Ok thanks well on the basis that the school has a resource that could be used with children and isn't without this I'll PM the OP.
Marky_B Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I'm also looking for the software to get these back up and running for my school. If anyone could please help. Thank you
mavhc Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 It's rarely illegal to copy software, just to run that copy if you're not licenced.
johanbard Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 I've zipped the content of the CD. Just PM me and I'll give it to you.
anicholls007 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 I've zipped the content of the CD. Just PM me and I'll give it to you. Could you please send me the software too!
anicholls007 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Does anyone know if I can get new stories from the base unit to the headphones without a pc/ software? thanks
jmak Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 They're basically MP3 players and the base station is a usb hub. I think you'll need a PC, but if you connect them directly via USB, they should mount as mad storage devices and you could copy files across. Assuming they've been used before, the should be a directory structure which will show you where to put the files. Good luck....
rgale Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I'm a new member and have just picked up on this thread. A member of staff has pulled some storyphones out of a cupboard and would like to use them. No sign of any software! johanbard, would it be OK for you to send me your zipped file also? Richard, IT Support, Hayward's Primary School, Crediton, Devon Best

rgale Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 Hi, didn't ignore you on 25th FN-GM, I've been ill for the week, just back today. Sorry, I really thought I had responded to say, 'huge thanks' for this. I really didn't think I'd get the software from anywhere. Again, massive thanks and I'll dbl check in the future that any replies I make to the forum actually go up. Best
