Managing a RM CC3 network for technicans

Has anyone done this course? Im booked onto it for June. It seems quite interesting.

When I first starting using CC3, I picked it up in a week or 2. In fact, I passed their certification (the one they run at the seminars) within just 6 weeks of working with a CC3 network.

 

To be honest, CC3 is so easy to use and manage (as i'm sure many a folk will say), that it'd probably take just a few weeks with careful experimenting/guidance.

 

As you can tell, I didn't go on the course in question (I haven't actually been on any CC3-specific courses ran by RM), as it all seemed just too easy. I may be interested in a CC4 one, mind, as the console seems to have alot in there that would take some time getting your head around.

I agree with Dave in that CC3 is quick to pick up, and to be honest, as long as you have access to their knowledge library you're laughing.

 

Take the course if its there, no harm in a free days trip out.

 

The certification is a neat gimmick, but in my opinion, thats about it unless you're looking at working in RM Schools.

Do RM not feel vaguely foolish as they are going to release Community Connect 4

I doubt it, as CC3 will be around for a fair while to come given it wasn't that long ago CC2 support was dropped.

Try and think of CC2 as covering 9x, CC3 as W2K and XP, and CC4 as Vista upwards ... think how many of us will be with XP for some time?

Yes but where will all the red an yellow counters go???!!! And if you get 4 in a line will the server crash? It's called Connect 4 FFS!

We are going CC4 in the summer, and I doubt we'll move any machines over to Vista immediately (more to do with software compatability than anything else); so CC4 is XP upwards i'd say

 

Although the jist of what you're saying is that CC3 will be around for a while to come, which I agree with, so a course on it isn't totally useless, only to the extent that you can self-learn pretty much all of it with relative ease and speed.

I took this course in February - I was new to RM networks in December 2007 and so this course helped to reinforce the day-to-day stuff I had picked up.

 

If you get a good trainer then the tips/tricks/shortcuts/advice from this course will prove invaluable and make you much more proficient on an RM CC3 network.

 

The 30-minute test at the end is worth doing, a pass is practically guaranteed at the 60% pass mark!

 

Overall I'm glad I did the course, although I think a total novice to CC3 and Active Directory might struggle a bit, there's a lot of information to take in.

I did the course way back in day when we first got our cc3 (good 4 years ago now).

 

Do suggestion the application course as that is very useful I found in creating apps and they run the courses in format.

 

Monday/tuesday intro to cc3 course and then wed/thurs is application course.

 

So then all you need to do is fund your own thursday night hotel and can have night in london type thing as train journey is not long to to London from rm offices.
