Hi there!

I have recently taken on the reins for the SIMS technical stuff around the school. (relative rookie)

I have been quoted by SIMS for 3 different support packages. Namely : Whole IT support, ICT Admin Support and SIMS Enhanced Support.

We are currently on an e-mail only contract.

My Question is.. What SIMS support package do you use if any? and... Have you ever had a form of SIMS audit?

We use the "email only contract", though that was very laxly enforced for years and they would happily answer phone queries. At some point in the last year or so they actually enforced the contract terms and (speaking to the helldesk person) it turns out I was one of many customers that he had to break that to.

We've never had a SIMS audit. Do you mean an external auditor is checking SIMS for data hygience, security etc or Capita giving it some TLC, or......?

I usually get a letter from Capita around Easter time saying "We think you've got X number of kids and use these modules, is that correct? If so, the cost will be £X for the coming year. If not, let us know and we'll amend the invoice".

We're on SIMS Enhanced Support and nothing else from them here.

Are you in charge of the network in your school as well? If not then the other two packages they are offering are the concern of the network manager as they are just general IT support.

You can get the same type of support as the SIMs Enhanced Support from 3rd party Support providers, this may work out cheaper/better for you.
