Selling old Staff owned Ipads

We have around 10 old Ipad Gen 2`s that staff are returning as they don`t want them now, these wont upgrade to the latest IOS so are starting to gather dust in our Office, looking on trade in sites we can get around £50 each for these.

Has any one done this, I think our HT will be on board if we explain the situation to her.

Hi Yes we did this when we upgraded all of our iPads to iPad 4s. Apple / Reseller were offering £75 for them, I decided that it was better to offer them to staff than for them to go in some big hole somewhere so we sold them at £75+VAT (you need to charge the VAT because as a school we would have been exempt but now the VAT should paid)

 

To make sure you have the least amount of stress afterwards make sure you remove them from any AppleID accounts (Find my Phone) as they will always ask for the Apple ID and Password following updates etc.

Just make sure as part of the deal the company is going to secure erase each ipad you trade in as they could have anything on there (school photos, videos, etc).

I havent sold Ipads at school before but make sure you get them to sign a form to say it is sold as seen and that you are not responsible for fixing any problems after purchase. No refunds given.

 

Sold laptops twice before and once with the form, we got loads of laptops back for the repairs the first time and none the second with forms signed.

 

You could offer your hourly rate in a conversation after they have signed the form if you are happy for that.

I was thinking more like trading them in to the high street "Cash Converters" type stores, as I wouldn't have thought the staff would pay what the High street stores are quoting.

If your school allows it you could sell them on eBay? One listing and then just package and post as and when you get a sale.

Don't expect you'll get anything like £50 from them! I would go for either staff or eBay - but +1 for the disclaimer!!
