Switch Recommendations

Morning all,

Looking for some recommendations for make and model, been asked to price up roughly 50 switches (not unprompted I might add), of which 6 would be core ones. I just need to go with some different price options really.

In answer to the questions:

No budget allocated just trying to price up a few different options

Stack able would be nice but not essential,

Yes 10GB uplinks / SFP+,

Yes layer 3,

24 or 48 ports on core,

Need POE option on on the other switches but not all of them.

You will need to give us more information. What are your requirements?

 

Do you want stacking?

Do you want 10GB uplinks?

What type and how many ports do you need on the core? I asusme the core needs to be Layer3? Will the core be stacked?

How many ports on the other switches? I am assuming gigabit speeds?

Do you need POE?

Your core switches? Are they 6 core to be distributed around the building, or 6 in a stack to make a core - In which case I would start looking at an HP 5412ZL2 which, whilst not cheap is excellent.

I would second this. The 5400R range of switches are pretty darn good and makes a fantastic core for most schools or small colleges. We've been really pleased with the HP range of switches for both edge and core.
