kenrick Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 Good morning, We are running Exchange 2013 and Office 2010. Some users are experiencing problems when trying to find old emails. Even when they do a search nothing gets returned back. Any ideas please? Many thanks Paul
pete Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 Assuming you've verified that they're not rubbish at searching..... Is there a difference between Outlook (desktop client) and Outlook Web Access? A corrupt local cache can cause similar issues. Have you got any form of email archiving setup? Have they themselves been archiving to PSTs on network shares? Things don't usually disappear - someone or something's deleted them.
kenrick Posted May 25, 2018 Author Posted May 25, 2018 Hi Pete, Thanks for your response. They haven't been deleted, they can be found but not through the search. You have to go through manually and find the email you want. I will check and see if the OWA works, I have a feeling it does. Paul
Vegas Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 We used to get this with Exchange 2010, this is what fixed it for us: 1. Stop the Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer Service 2. Deleted the Catalog folder associated with the mailbox database 3. Started the Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer Service 1
kenrick Posted May 25, 2018 Author Posted May 25, 2018 Hi Vegas, Thanks for this, where would I find the catalog folder? I assume once deleted a new one is just created? Many thanks Paul
