Graphics card for dual QHD monitors?

I'm considering upgrading from dual HD monitors to dual QHD (2560 x 1440). Can anybody recommend a suitable graphics card?

For work any modern low end graphics card with 2 outputs should easily do the job, around the £30 mark

 

Gaming you're looking at a 1060+ i'd say

Cex in Kendal had a GTX750Ti on sale for £65 when I was in last weekend, you might want to pop in and check if its still there.

IIRC it has a DVI and an HDMI output on it, might even be dual HDMI out but it could certainly cope with 2D dual displays at 1440, it'd even manage gaming.

Any new GPU worth it's salt can do that. We use Surfaces here with Intel integrated graphics that run their default res of 2736 x 1824, plus a 4k monitor plus a 1080p Projector fine. So if integrated graphics can do that any decent gpu should do fine

the GT 1030 has a display port 1.3 (so 4k 120hz or daisy chain 2 at 60) and dual link dvi. no external power requirement and the new more rubbish ddr4 version only needs 20 watts (so those annoying hp PCs can use it.) Edited May 22, 2018 by chazzy2501

Many thanks. I've have a 6th gen i7 but only DVI and VGA outputs on the motherboard so I'll need a card. Hopefully someone who's done this will recommend one.

No, that's not how it works.

I used an Nvidia GTX460 with my two 27" QHD monitors before switching to an ATI HD 4850 X2 as I got two more.

Doesn't need to be new or swanky to run dual QHD monitors.

 

 

If they don't come with cables and you're connecting with DVI, they will need to be dual link with the extra 6 pins. Be wary on ebay, there are plenty of fakes, the pins are there but the wire connecting them isn't.

Thanks. This specification https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-1030/specifications says that these are single link DVI. Do they do a dual link version too?

You don't need a resolution of 7680x4320 to run multiple QHD monitors at 2560 x 1440. My old GTX460 had a max resolution of 2560x1600.

The resolution in the specs are for each individual output, no maths required.

 

Single link DVI only supports 1920×1200 resolution. Dual Link supports 2560×1600.

Providing the monitors support it, you can use that single dp 1.4 (I said 1.3 earlier, mistake) in daisy chain to drive both monitors. The gt1030s come in various configs, mine came with dp1.4 and hdmi2.0.
