Hi,

When redirecting our start menu in windows 10 1803, it seems to only pull certain folders through from the share and not the whole list.

If i were to rename some of the folders they are then instantly populated but this does not work for all folders. For instance, if i rename our CCF folder (which does not populate) to AdminCCF, it will then show on the start menu. However, if I rename Finance to AdminFinance it will not. This is a weird issue that I'm at a loose end with. This redirected start menu is the only policy applied both for users and computers so it doesn't seem to be another policy interfering. Also, i have tried this policy on a vanilla windows10 virtual machine with the same outcome so leads me to believe it's not the local image at fault either.

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil

Hey Phil,

Do you use roaming profiles at all? We also had this issue and resolved it with a registry key and making sure we had 'Wait for Network at logon' enabled.

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

SpecialRoamingOverrideAllowed

REG_DWORD - Decimal

1

Let me know how you get on!

Hi Dan,

Unfortunately we dont use roaming profiles. We're also having an issue with the start menu freezing when we first click the start menu. Once we click off and back into the start menu it works okay. I dont suppose you've had any experience of this either?

Cheers
