Modding iPads

Hi all,

 

Never had much to do with Apple before, I have been given an iPad Mini with a smashed screen to play with, it will be the first time I have ever attempted to fix a damaged iPad, unfortunately its iOS is limited to 9.3.5, just for curiosity is it possible to force iOS 10+ on to this iPad? either by jailbreak or other means?

Basically... nope. Apple have such tight control over the hardware now it's basically impossible to do anything like that unless someone finds an iBoot exploit.

Be careful with the minis if replacing the screen, it's very easy to blow the backlight - disconnect the battery before disconnecting anything else

Thanks it's basically useless then because most of the apps I want need iOS10 at least I'll be able to attempt to repair it!
