BT Line Rental Reduction?

Just been reading this article.

 

If I'm right in reading, line rental could reduce and you maybe able to get an internet only line without the voice. Anyone else know anymore on this?

That's correct.

 

Many people don't actually use the voice element of a phone line anymore and just use them for broadband so BT will eventually just bring out a copper based product purely for broadband.

 

If my memory serves me correctly I think the BT product us known as SoGEA.

I'm sure I read recently that they were offering reductions for people who only had voice services on their lines, would be nice if they are doing it both ways

Virgin do this - I dropped the monthly line charge and put in a voip connection so the oldies could still call - saved a fortune!

Last time I checked VM only charged £3 for phone+internet as for just internet, although seems like they force you to have a calls package these days, so it's more like £7

Well its saving me nearly £18 a month after I dropped the monthly line charge - so I'm well happy

 

I'm sure there are deals to be had with haggling - but it suits me
