That's just technology though isn't it? There's always a risk. You do your "risk assessment" and determine how much of a risk an issue is to your organisation and make your decision on the back of that. If we all just replaced kit if there was a vulnerability, nothing would ever get done.

Sure, but that applies to any of us, even with brand spanking new hardware you could be vulnerable to an unknown threat. You can't base purchase decision on this else you would never buy anything.

 

Brand new business grade hardware will come with a guaranteed period of fixes. Dell is 5 years. Old hardware that is coming to the end of life does not. You can have an known security issue that won't get fixed. Most of us are not running XP anymore because there are no more Windows updates. The same principle applies here.
