Replacement ICT Suite Computers

Hi there,

I have 35 Lenovo Thinkcentre Edge 91Z ICT Suite computers I am looking replace with something newer.

 

 

Does anyone have any recommendations on similar all in one computers? I would be looking at a minimum of something with an i5 processor and 8gb of RAM.

We replaced nearly 200 of these (actually the 92z) in September with the Dell Optiplex 5250 AIO machines. They have been great. We have I5 and 8GB RAM with an M2 SSD.

Got a couple of these HP ProOne 400s and so far been rock solid.

If you want all in one, have a look at the VeryPC models. Not used any of their latest generation models, but one of my old schools leased 30 of their Panel models, and the glides look amazing!

Don't know about the AIO machines, but the Flex SFF+monitors we have at today's school were pretty good value. @ICTDirect_Dave normally has some decent refurb AIOs if cost is an issue.

Not had an issues with the VeryPC pricing before (and quality has always been spot on!), always found them very competitively priced with the similar grade and spec devices from Dell (Optiplex 5/7000 series).

 

But flex is also an option for cheaper - and has the advantage that they are more upgrade-able too!

 

But for all out, cheapness - just buy USFF, screen and mount.

Just under £600 each. They have a 5 year pro support warrenty, 8GB ram, I5, 250GB M2 SSD.

 

We sold all the old computers to staff as well.

That is our baseline spec for all Windows machines. They are used for a verity of purposes, basic word processing etc but also CAD, Video Editing, Programming, Music production etc.

Crikey, you must have healthy budgets! I've been buying i3/4gb/120gb SSD AIO 23" over the last few years for around 420 ex VAT. This year I only have around 300 ex VAT to play with so will be looking at Pentium G NUCs hung off the back of 23" ish monitors! To be fair though I find an i3 with 4GB of RAM and an SSD to be more than adequate for an IT suite, and the newer gen Pentium Gs are very close to i3 performance with the added bonus of qualifying for Microsoft TAP OS licence.

Keep in mind these machines will last us 5 years. Quite a long time for IT. We are careful with the budget. We use Chromebooks and G Suite to save money, plus open source software is used - for example for our phone system. We are currently selling old AIO computers for upto £200 each so that also go towards the cost.

 

We have also refurbished some 4 year old Dell 9020 AIO with 4th Gen I5 processors. We doubled the RAM to 8GB and installed an SSD that was stripped from some old computers we inherited when a school joined the MAT. A keep clean and new KB and Mouse and they are as good as new!

Sorry for the delay, I took yesterday afternoon off to go eat ice cream with my kids!

 

I've got a lovely bunch of All in One machines right now.

 

The best value are the 3rd gen i5 HP 8300 Elites.

 

23" 1920 x 1080 screen, quad core i5 3470 3.20GHz, 4GB RAM, new 120GB SSD, new keyboard & mouse, 2 years warranty (3-5 year extensions available) - £285 Ex VAT if you take 35.

 

I've probably got enough of the newer EliteOne 800 G1 too, but they're more expensive coming in at £340 per unit.

I seem to recall last time we did a refresh Dell never ended up getting back to me after a lot of chasing and HP kept not meeting my spec and when they finally got near, but not what I wanted, they were more expensive or at least only slightly more expensive so getting what I actually wanted negated that cost. Then VeryPC customised them to make them look funky.

 

Add to that we have had only a few need to be shipped back and we have never had any issues with support, technical or Customer. Whereas with HP I used to dread calling them. PLUS, you get to talk to Colin!

 

I'd get a quote, can't hurt.

I just can't afford to spend more than £350 average per PC. Intel i3 2/4GB RAM and an SSD seems to do us very well. Dedicated areas of movie productions have a slightly higher spec.
