Hi,

 

I'm having a real problem with the sims.net client installed on the sims server. Every time I open the client it crashes. I have tried pushing out the updated client to the server multiple times. I have also reinstalled .net 4.5.2. I noticed this was the problem when I found that LGfL auto update stopped working. It uses the sims command line report importing utility, which is also crashing. Any pointers would be really appreciated!

We signed up for something called No More Marking POP tests which required a program to be installed on the Sims Server called the Assembly Connector

 

While the Assembly Connector service is on and running it seems to take control of some of the files within the C:\Program Files\Sims\Sims.net folder and wasnt allowing sims to update properly. When I opened sims I got a similar error to the one you have shown

 

So I had to stop the assembly service. Delete the C:\Program Files\Sims\Sims.net folder. Then reinstall sims made sure it worked then started the Assembly Connector again

We do not have that installed, however I did find that we have ZiNet running which was stopping me from renaming the sims.net folder. I stopped those services, renamed the folder and re-installed sims, and now everything is working as it should.

Normally a reboot will solve this too as the pendring file writes will complete then. I have the same issue with the Intouch Services for some reason but never tracked down why.

We used to have the same thing. We used to stop all ZiNet services before upgrading SIMS on the server, then start them again afterwards.

You can run assembly on a workstation - we didn't like it on the server and it worked fine off a client.

I might look at doing that then. Its really annoying having to remember to stop/start the services
