How to web filter 2 sites?

What options are there for web filtering over 2 sites, 1 AD, without paying twice for filtering list licences?

 

1. Point to point link, 1 UTM box. But then 2nd site is dependent on 2 links being up, and no failover.

2. Is there a filtering company that will sell me 2 boxes but 1 license for web filtering? Or a per user system that can work on multiple boxes together?

yes we can do this in the cloud with our hosted Fortigate and Netsweeper solution. No need for different licences and or multiple boxes as its all virtualised in our data centres. all done with HA / load balanced failover too for resilience. It's currently on 100% uptime since its inception 7 months ago too.

Guess the other option is to run a VM UTM in the cloud.

Yep. We've a few large MATs that do this rather than use our hosted solution as they are big smoothwall fans. Each to their own but it works a treat and has no problems integrating to our WANs
