I clicked on your link to check it wasn't a news story about our school! I sent a warning home last term and we covered it at an esafety evening.

Roblox is truly appalling - especially when you realise how many 6 and 7 year-olds are playing it.

Yeah

before I retired I was working in a primary school and all the Year 5/6's wanted to go on Roblox

and blamed me for blocking them - which gave me loads of Esafety opportunities

but who is telling parents that this is BAD and needs to be monitored - carefully

I suppose that my point is....

If I opened as 'shop' where young kids could come in and play on games and talk to anyone they wanted to via the Internet

Oh - and possibly view any old videos they wanted to on 'the Internet'

Then I would probably be dragged in front of 'the beak' and rightly lobbed into a jail

but if YouTube and Roblox allow this without proving the kids are old enough then that is OK

I mean - "warning - this MAY be turning into a rant"

if the BBC etc need to filer content before the watershed and even block some content totally

and warn us if the is a possibility that you MAY have heard 'naughty language' from an annoyed Rugby player

Then WHY can YouTube broadcast anything at any time

unmoderated

and with no threat of being turned into frogs

or is it just me

I've allowed Roblox at home but setup an account with all the parental control on no chat etc. But as Roblox can't do ADFS or similar implementing in a edu environment is a no go.

All blocked here onsite, that said my own children play at home, yes the correct parent setting are on, especially in Roblox, but all my children know how to handle people who try things on so to speak. I have always been open and honest that certain people in the world are not very nice and will ask certain things, and they know to be open and honest with me and their Mum.

I feel most of the time its education, and parents dont want that conversation with children and play ignorant with the internet.

All blocked here, however siblings play fortnight and Roblox, however, educated in E-safety, and they are always within ear range so any dodgy stuff is caught quickly and I make them leave the game/team

My son plays both but only does Fortnite with his friends and is closely monitored for language.

Given the large distance they all live apart I think it's a great way for them to 'play' together especially over the winter months.

Will now have to reintroduce him and his sister to 'outside' now the weather is better.

Got asked by a young student if we could unblock Roblox... I said that the idea of school was to learn... he replied that it is learning... how to play a game. Yeah, nice try. ;)
