[ltsb, 1607] No associations for JPG's

User goes to google and does an image search, right clicks the image they require and chooses "Save Image as..."

 

Chrome shows the downloaded JPG in a bar at the bottom of the browser, when the user clicks this to open the image they get:

 

H:\image.jpg

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.......

 

 

I logged in as an admin user and set a program to open JPG's

 

Then used instructions from this website

Created an XML file:

 

 

 

And an associated new group policy, which I've checked is applying running Group Policy Results.

 

 

Yet when the users log in after a restart they still don't have an associated JPG application.

 

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this one?

Currently the XML file is stored on the network :

 

\\fp2\shapps\FileAssociations

 

If I edit the GPO and move the file to C:\windows\

 

It works.

 

What could be preventing the PC from being able to see the contents of \\fp2\shapps\FileAssociations

Is the current permissions.

I would use Group Policy Preferences, far easier in my book.

 

Should be able to set associations in Control Panel Settings -> Folder Options.

Weirdly if they go to their H:\ drive and click on the image it works fine, it's just opening it from the link at the bottom of google that does n't work - but then that also works once they have opened a jpg at least once from their H:\ drives
