Pushprinterconnections.exe reliant files

Hi,

 

The pushprinterconnections.exe file seems to be missing, along with whatever other files it relies upon has gone missing.

 

Please could someone have a look and tell me which other files reside with it on their system?

I guess you are talking about Server 2003 R2 Print Management.

 

If this is the casae you just need to put Pushprinterconnections.exe in the group policy as a startup item and away you go...assuming you have already set up the printer deployment

Yeh that's what I'm referring to.

 

I've placed my pushprinterconnections.exe file back where it was originally but printers still aren't installing....

Have you done a gpupdate /force on one of the client to check if it is working.

 

If that fixes the problem then try RGPRefresh (google it). It will allow you to create a .bat to gpupdate all the clients remotly

 

If not, then double check that you have got the printers listed in your deply printers list and that they are working from the server.

You should only copy PushPrinterConnections.exe, not move it. Within Active Directory go to User Config > Windows Settings > Scripts (Logon\Logoff) > Logon. Now click the Show files button. Paste PushPrinterConnections.exe in here, then close the window.

 

Now click on Add and Browse. You should see PushPrinterConnections.exe in here to add as a logon script.

 

Now presuming you've already shared printers using Print Management, then the printers should be dynamically created each time a user logs on (with a particular OU) or if you set it on the Default Domain Policy.

Everything was working fine before the holidays, the I started receiving the following error:

 

Could not execute the following script \\server\NETLOGON\Printers\pushprinterconnections.exe. The system cannot find the file specified.

 

and now I've replaced that file I'm getting this error:

 

Could not execute the following script \\server\NETLOGON\Printers\pushprinterconnections.exe. Invalid parameter.

Ok after recreating the policy it seems to be ok now.

My network has stopped deploying printers to Staff users. When I run PushPrinterConnections.exe directly I get the error:

 

'PushPrinterConnections.exe is not a valid Win32 application'

 

This along with other indicators lead me to believe that the server has the 64 Bit version of PushPrinterConnections.exe.

 

I have been trying to find a download somewhere [anywhere] without success. If I can source this file I feel confident that it will resolve my current issues. Can anyone let me have a copy or point me in the right direction to pick up a copy it would remove a MAJOR headache for me.

Found it in about 4 different locations (32-bit Server 2003 R2 box)

Out of interest what workaround \ bodge did you do regarding default printers seeing as Print Management is too stupid to know how to set them?

We are using Kix scripts to allocate printers with a select statement to find out what the station is called and allocate the appropriate printer based upon the information found.

Other way that might work is to ZIP the file up then put it inside a RAR file and email. That usually gets past the antivirus scanners

I realize this is a really old thread but after we had so much trouble finding this I decided to post here with information on where to download the pushprinterconnections.exe 32bit file.

 

Here's the URL to the page you'll need to go to:

You'll need to run this self-extracting file on a 32 bit machine (such as an XP box or 2003 box) and then do a file search for pushprinterconnections.exe.
