kennysarmy Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Does anyone know how to reset a DataTraveler® Locker+ G3 so I can give it to a new user?
steveg Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Most encrypted sticks if you put the wrong password in 6 times, it completely wipes and re-sets it, not sure if it is the same for these ones. Steve

Steve I tried a few wrong passwords and then it said I had 3 more left before it would be blocked permanently...
kennysarmy Posted March 19, 2018 Author Posted March 19, 2018 OK - so went further - all it does is require you to enter a new password to format it. It does n't go through the initial setup routine where you can choose language and enter contact details Rubbish!
JimHew Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 @kennysarmy I was setting up one of these last week, and also wanted to reset it. So you maxed out the password attempts and it just formatted itself? I would have thought it would take you through the whole rigmarole of setting it up from scratch!

I'll test again - but it just asked me to setup a new password so it could format itself - no option to change the contact details - I had to blank these out manually. Not great for handing out to another teacher....would rather they had to go through the whole setup procedure...
Mako Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 (edited) Have you looked in the notification area for the DTVault Privacy program? Right click > DTVault Privacy Settings... edit: el picturado. edit edit: Maybe I can't read, you said you had to blank them out manually. Was that using the app? Edited March 19, 2018 by Mako

Also there's the issue of it not letting you back it up to a school email address, so we can't use the staff member's 1TB of OneDrive storage. So if they were to leave the school, and it was set to back up to a personal Microsoft account, we've got no way of stopping them from accessing their backups. This was the bigger issue for us than the factory reset. I don't know if this will be of any help to you but I'll tell you how we're going to proceed with them. As they are going to be school owned devices, we are going to set them up and manage/issue them. They're going to be backing up to G-Drive accounts that we've set up,and if anyone wants anything from a backup, they'll have to come to us.
