Cunninghams Database

Hi All,

 

Out Cunninghams impact database currently sits on an VM running windows XP. Has only successfully moved this over to a new OS without problems?

 

Cunninghams want to charge us to do this.

They didn't charge us under out software support contract.

I'd clone the VM and test it, if it works try pointing some clients to the new 'server', see if that works. If so, move the real one.

We paid for this service last term as I didn't want to get caught out again when ParentPay change that certificate, the charge was for the single hour.

 

I did write down the steps they took during the remote session to do it (only rough notes though) and I really would recommend that you just let them handle it, it's not a lot of money to ensure it's done right. They had to transfer newer programs over during the session, so there's a chance you don't have the right software and as the new OS was 64-bit there were no drivers available for our scanner in the Reval unit and so they booked a call to replace that. It took overall around 3 hours with me running back and forward to check on that scanner but only paid for 1 hour.If you really want it though, send me a PM and I'll give you the notes I took.

I just used the installers they left and then migrated the DATA folder and shares/permissions. Did this a few years ago without issues.
