CyberNerd Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Apparently, the Govornment is being stung by 'poor value' outsourcing deals. Gov't stung by 'poor value' outsourcing deals - ZDNet.co.uk and this is without BSF ! meanwhile the conservatives are calling for more open source and a less centralised approach to IT projects: Conservatives press for open-source push - ZDNet.co.uk maybe there will be some light at the end of the tunnel

Gov't stung by 'poor value' outsourcing deals - ZDNet.co.uk and this is without BSF ! Hardly news. A lot of people are waking up to the fact that outsourcing isn't the magic fix it seems to be. meanwhile the conservatives are calling for more open source and a less centralised approach to IT projects: Conservatives press for open-source push - ZDNet.co.uk Just some talk to win votes. I doubt they'll act on it.
cookie_monster Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Outsourcing = passing off problems to someone else to make it their problem. The problem is that you don't tend to get very good service so companies realise that it's better to pay a bit more to have support in house and receive better service do it boomerangs back.
CyberNerd Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 Just some talk to win votes. I doubt they'll act on it. probably not, they don't seem to have any policies, but it might help to wake up govt.
