Laptops for exams

Oh it's failed many times, that's why I've complained for so long, kids saving to local drive, power losses, accidental deletion of work, corrupt usb sticks you name it....

 

Yeah I demoed your software and for some reason it wasn't well received - not sure why as I really like it and it ticked all the boxes. The only thing I didn't like was it saves the file in XML format which can be opened with Word but it has a proprietary file extension, there is no easy way for them to be able to print work off without attaching a printer to each and every laptop. They are too used to using a USB stick to save to and printing from that, in this case they would need to run examwritepad on a local machine in order to do that. They are a bit set in their ways

 

Problem solved, again how we do it is EWP is run from network, so no matter where you are with your USB stick, you can print.

 

But in the summer exams we block USB drives to stop cheating. If you know how tiny some are these days, a child can put one in and copy work within 10 seconds, take it out. Yes, we block Word, wordpad, notepad etc.... but they could bring in a portable version of a writing software to open up notes copy/paste. This is why we don’t take any chances.

 

Each to their own, I know but we do everything we can to stop cheating.

 

 

Back to your original post, I defo think refurbs is the best and cheapest idea. For what they are used for it makes sense! [emoji1303][emoji1]

Found some HP 14s for 229 inc vat delivered new - 1.6 celeron 4 gig of ram - should work fine

 

I tend to remove any network full stop from any exam laptops instead of blocking in other ways (remove wifi card, disable nic in bios) So running from network isn't necessary
