Hi all, hope your having a nice break :-)

Does anyone know how to change the administrator password on server 2003. I know that you can change the administrator password within AD but that does not effect the log on used to get onto the server.

Hope that makes sense.

All the best

Matt

Dont worry, i am losing it,

You have to log off and on again for the changes to take.

it turns out that a lock this computer is not enough to trigger the chage into action!

If the server is a domain controller, then you can only change the administrator password within Active Directory. Local accounts are disabled.

It sounds to me you're referring to a local administrator password. This is only applicable to member servers (servers not running Active Directory).

Within Control Panel go to Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Local Users and Groups > Users

Right click the administrator account and choose Set Password

Edit: Glad you sorted it :)
