We are having a sporadic issue with Office 2016. We have a small IT Suite created for developing Windows 10 for site deployment later this year. In addition it has Office 2016 installed as well as our default AV Sophos.

The room works perfectly but at random times of the day with random users we have issues with Office 2016 after the user saves the document and logs off. Basically the file "disappears" and is replaced by a numbered.tmp file. In some cases launching Office and open with "all files" selected or renaming the extension fixes this issue but in others the work is lost. There is no consistent behaviour or pattern so we cannot pinpoint exactly what is causes this!

However, after a variety of online searches we keep seeing this same problem reported and the antivirus being the potential culprit? Saying they have resolved this by excluding the folder, but for obvious reason we don't want to exclude the home directories. Does anyone here have any thoughts or ideas.

Thank you advance.
