HP server, no warning sounds on failed drive

We have an HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 server that had a failed drive but did not sound any warning and I only found out because I was checking the Smart Storage Administrator software. There should be an option to turn on and off the warning sounds but I can't find it.

 

Does anyone know where it it?

I'm not sure about a sound warning, but if you purchase an iLO4 Advanced License, you can setup e-mail notifications.

Not many raid cards have sound warnings nowadays.

 

Mostly flashing lights which would get picked up on in daily visual checks.

might be that any sound alert would need to be enabled on the BIOS of the RAID card - old adaptec cards used to be like this and Intel/LSI stuff is still the same i believe.

There should be a red/amber light on the front of the disk to warn you of a drive failure - on the rack versions at least.

 

My old adaptec RAID card was sounding a beep yesterday after a lengthy power cut.

This is odd as a different drive failed before half term and there was an option to silence the alarm which I did, then another drive went a couple of weeks later but I didn't know about it till I checked Smart Storage Administrator. The server sits on the bench facing into a corner making it difficult to see the drive lights so will look at turning it over the Easter holidays.
