Core Switch

I am after a new core switch for our network.

Needs at least 16 1Gbit fibre ports and 16 copper 1Gbit ports but I guess more would be better for future new builds.

 

Any ideas? We currently have a 3Com 4050 but it's full!

I actually use the HP Procurve's, have you thought about the 4100 series (or the newer ones). Then all you have to do is buy the fibre modules for it. I find them realiable and they have a lifetime warrenty (plus cheaper than CISCO)

I'd go for an HP 5406zl. Plenty of expansion prospects.

We have a 3com 5500G-EI 24 port SFP (3CR17258-91) and a 3com 5500G-EI 48ports (3CR17251-91) stacked via a XRN module.. works great
