macOS / OSX as a VM on vmware

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone was using a macOS VM as their live caching server? If so, is it easy to set up?

Thanks,

Unless you're running ESXi on Apple hardware, you are not allowed to run OS X in a virtual machine. You can hack ESXi to run OS X on non-Apple hardware but if you do that, you will be unlicensed.

That said, fundamentally there is no reason why you couldn't do it. As long as the VM has adequate resources, you should be fine.

Oh right, scrap that then. I was wanting to do it for simplicity but for £400 for a mac mini its not worth the licensing issues let alone the faff.

I have a friend *cough* who might have a MacOS VM as a test lab machine. But that is purely internal tech use. Just to able to do so licence wise on anything else.
