Netwseeper

Hi all

 

The renewal for our current web filter is coming up (Lightspeed) and while I like it we have had some client issues and are looking at alternatives. Has anyone got a review of netsweeper for me? My main concern with it is you cannot filter by OU or Room, which we really need as we are a 6th form college and art etc need access to certain sites some of the time, pinterest etc... but only in those rooms

 

Any reccomendations or advice would be greately recieved.

Hertfordshire grid for learning had netsweeper as part of the connectivity deal which ended of recent. I found it okay, but I could not fathom out how to generate reports and the most we had done was add to black or white lists in the AD groups. This was managed upstream via the LEA so wasn't a physical onsite filter mind...

My LEA binned Netsweeper off last year. The reporting wasn't that great.

sorry - shameless plug here! - if you want the maximum flexibility in terms of per-user/per-device/per-group/per-IP policies for web-filtering and application control then I would look at on-premise appliance such as Sophos XG. It would give you a huge range of options and visibility as well as extensive detailed reporting and all the other UTM features besides. If you would like a demo of more info, let me know.
