Morning all,

We are signing up for Google Suite for Education, and they are making us jump through hoops. They want an OFSTED report, accreditation docs and proof of non-profit status. What have other further education colleges provided for the accreditation part?

Thanks

James

I told Google that we could not provide that.

In the end we added a .sch.uk domain to the setup even though we don’t use it for anything within google

I added our ac.uk domain, but still need an email from the official email listed on our website, and the 3 docs!

I have sent them our last OFSTED report, which lists us as NFP, and educational, so waiting to see if they will accept the one doc as proof

Hoops jumped through, but still want us to find ourselves on the https://get-information-schools.service.gov.uk/ and http://childrenscentresfinder.direct.gov.uk/childrenscentresfinder websites. We are not on the former, being a private college with only some government funding and the second doesn't work and we aren't a childrens centre!!

I might have been a bit annoyed and replied with:

"At this point, I do not know what you are trying to get me to prove, we have an ac.uk address, only available to educational establishments, we have provided our OFSTED report, which is only performed on educational establishments."

We will get there, but so many hoops!!

I know :) I vented and regretted it a tiny bit.

They have now come back and said:

Thank you for letting us know.

We will review your application and email you ASAP.

So probably a no lol

Not sure if things have changed recently but I setup our google setup about 3 years ago and don't remember going through all those hoops.

Agreed, proof of domain ownership was enough for us, again, years ago. Guess the process has been beefed up.

People have been setting up dodgy tennant's and then selling accounts with unlimited storage on eBay. Probably the reason why this is much more difficult. As usual a few ruin it for the many.

Interesting. I setup one recently for a school and they made me jump through more hoops than the previous few schools. Not down to providing ofsted reports though.

Oftsed report is a strange one, as anybody can just go to their website and download it - so it's not particularly unique.

Surely it proves the school exists as an education establishment though which is one half of the battle. What you then have to show is that you are from the school and acting for it.

Not all schools have an Ofsted report. For example new schools, recent academy converters, independent school etc. One of our academies didn't have any Ofsted rating for nearly 4 years.

I am still awaiting confirmation yey or ney. I am all for validation, but sometimes it's a tad too much. It may be because we are not on the gov.uk schools/colleges register, which I assume is a very easy way for them to confirm status.
