My small school has old Lenovo Ideapads which are now well past their sell by date. I've been tasked with finding 20 affordable replacements -

these have got to be bottom end of the price range.

We have a netbook storage/charging cabinet and space limitations, so we need a 11 or 12 inch laptops.

Staff want a laptop that runs MS Office so Chromebooks and tablet computers are out.

We have an appallingly slow internet connection.

I'm thinking of this sort of spec:-

11 or 12 inch laptop format

OS - Windows 10

Processor - Pentium, Celeron or Atom

Memory - 4GB

Storage - 64GB minimum especially if eMMC

Wifi and RJ45 for imaging

Budget likely to be less than £300 ea.

Been googling but not finding a good match.

Any ideas gratefully received - thanks

Are you in a rural area? If not you really should look at a faster connection. You could sign up for Office 365 and then you get a MS Word Excel for free with 80% of the features and 100% of the features the kids would need to use. You can use Office 365 on Chromebooks also but need a way to do single sign on between google and MS.

Looking for similar myself. The ACER ASPIRE R3-131T range looks a possibility though you would need the hdd version as the max SSD size is 32GB.

Hey Dave - what are the X230s coming in at when specced up (8GB RAM, max warranty, no HDD or SSD)? Lenovo seem to be struggling to provide a laptop in this size bracket in the UK now (the Thinkpad 11e has disappeared).

£260 with i5, 8gb RAM, No HDD and 3 Year Warranty Sir.

Or £220 with the i5 but just 4GB and a 2 Year Warranty.

Holy moly can you just stop - you're making me want to go put a case out to our SLT for a bunch!

I love ThinkPads, and I love the X series more :drunken_smilie:

Ha!

Did you just get seduced by the thought of potential Thinkpads?

You probably need professional help! ;)

But, in the meantime, there's plenty to go around...
