Sheridan Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I've been asked to download some software from the VLSC licensed by one of our primaries - they have given me the details but when I try to login I get the message "We are unable to complete your sign up to VLSC as the email domain you have provided is restricted for automatic sign up." It looks like the email address they used is a council hosted one (i.e user.school@.gov.uk) , but the council weren't involved in this purchase, so does MS look at the email domain name and falsely assume its a .gov.uk so it must be unsuitable for VLSC login?
DJ-1701 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Did you click on a work account? If so click Microsoft e-mail account, it should work.
Sheridan Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 It doesn't recognise it as an MS account (it isn't hotmail/outlook) so it should be a work account I guess - its just not allowed for the domain it seems
Joanne Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 mine is my work e-mail, but when I set up the VLSC login it was classed as a microsoft account. Now when I want to get in I have to click that option and in I get. Perhaps they have given you the wrong password? 1
DJ-1701 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 (edited) I have to click Microsoft account at both schools even though it's a work e-mail address. It's just the way it was originally setup as this Work account or Microsoft account option is new for the VLSC. The password for the Microsoft accounts are completely independent of your work ones, but you should be able to reset it. Edited January 31, 2018 by DJ-1701
localzuk Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 "Work Account" means "Office 365 account, under your own Tenancy" really.

The last time i was in I had to call them up because no licences were being showed. I think they force a reset after so long so it pays to have that recovery email or text a mobile setup.
Sheridan Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 I think its because the email domain is the councils, and Microsoft have this domain flagged as not usable for VLSC login. It doesn't matter which way I do it I get the same error: Error Code E05 We are sorry. We are unable to complete your sign up to VLSC as the email domain you have provided is restricted for automatic sign up If I says its a Microsoft account, it simply says that the email is not recognised as a Microsoft account!
RalphP Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Bit of an old thread, I know, but we had this issue at our company and we had to run the following Powershell command against Azure AD to resolve it: Set-MsolCompanySettings -AllowEmailVerifiedUsers $true https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Power-BI-in-your-Organization-d7941332-8aec-4e5e-87e8-92073ce73dc5?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US#bkmk_preventjoining It might be an uphill battle to get the council to run the command against their Azure AD, so the easier option might be for Microsoft support or the software reseller to delegate access to an account on a different domain.
